The Dor occurrence is located on a south-facing slope north of the east end of Doreen Lake.

Regionally, the area lies within the eastern part of the Quesnel terrane and is underlain mainly by fine-grained marine sedimentary rocks and volcanic rocks of the lower part of an Upper Triassic Nicola Group. These have been intruded by bodies of Late Triassic to Early Jurassic dioritic to syenitic rocks.

Locally, the occurrence area is underlain by hornblende and hornblende pyroxene andesite with lesser interbedded argillite intruded by quartz diorite. The sequence is faulted and fractured and has been sericitized, silicified and sometimes chloritized. Small bodies and float boulders of ferricrete, comprising sulphide fragments, bleached argillite and altered volcanics cemented with iron oxides, are also reported. The stratigraphy strikes at 040 degrees and dips 50 to 60 degrees east.

Mineralization consists of isolated pods of massive to semi-massive pyrite, pyrrhotite and chalcopyrite mineralization in chloritic-altered volcanics; semi-massive to massive pyrrhotite, pyrite and chalcopyrite in east-west–trending shear zones within andesitic volcanics; small chalcopyrite-rich zones in chloritic-siliceous volcanics; and isolated zones and/or float of oxidized ferricrete hosting massive sulphides. Trace molybdenite, bornite and chalcocite have also been reported.

In 1983, rock chip samples of fragmental (float) ferricrete yielded up to 4.80 grams per tonne gold, whereas trenches exposed boulders of ferricrete hosting massive sulphides yielding up to 5.30 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 11905).

In 1984, trenching identified two zones of sulphide mineralization. A sample (13921) of cherty and chloritic-altered volcanics hosting chalcopyrite with trace bornite and chalcocite assayed 1.85 grams per tonne gold, 3.0 grams per tonne silver and 1.30 per cent copper, whereas a sample (13909) of chloritic-altered volcanics hosting pyrrhotite with minor pyrite and chalcopyrite assayed 5.10 grams per tonne gold and 34 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 13172). Also at this time, a float boulder of oxidized ferricrete with massive pyrrhotite assayed 12.55 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 13172). Diamond drilling yielded up to 0.212 per cent copper with 0.08 gram per tonne gold over 3.0 metres in hole NLD-84-1 and 0.189 per cent copper, 0.02 per cent molybdenum, 5.3 grams per tonne silver and 0.15 gram per tonne gold over 2.22 metres in hole NLD-84-2 (Assessment Report 13172).

In 1985, a sample of altered andesite, located approximately 20 metres west of drillhole NDL-84-1, assayed 6.38 grams per tonne gold over 2.0 metres, whereas a sample of massive sulphide float assayed 68.00 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 17089).

In 1987, resampling of core from drillhole NDL-84-1 yielded 0.89 gram per tonne gold over 2.1 metres of altered andesite with minor sulphides, whereas a sample (DOR-10) from a quartz-feldspar veinlet hosted in a northwest–trending shear zone in andesite assayed 0.440 per cent copper and 0.027 per cent molybdenum (Assessment Report 17089).

In 1989, diamond drilling yielded intercepts of 0.32 gram per tonne gold over 12.0 metres of argillite and andesitic tuff hosting disseminated and massive pyrrhotite in hole GXD89-1; 0.210 per cent copper over 3.1 metres of biotite hornfels diorite in hole GXD89-3; 0.177 per cent copper over 3.05 metres, 0.12 gram per tonne gold with 0.03 per cent molybdenum over approximately 12 metres and 0.31 gram per tonne gold, 6.1 grams per tonne silver and 0.812 per cent copper over 3.05 metres of dioritic intrusive hosting massive pyrrhotite, pyrite and chalcopyrite in a quartz-carbonate-chlorite gangue in hole GXD89-5 and 0.20 gram per tonne gold over 6.1 metres in hole GXD89-6 (Assessment Report 19551).

In 2014, rock samples yielded up to 0.266 per cent copper (Assessment Report 35244). The following year, rock samples yielded up to 0.255 per cent copper (Sample 3950; Assessment Report 3603).

In 1974, Dome Exploration Ltd. and Newmont Mining Corporation conducted reconnaissance geological mapping and geochemical soil sampling over an area of minor pyrite and chalcopyrite mineralization.

In 1981, the area was restaked as the Dor claims by Keron Holdings Ltd., and a subsequent soil survey revealed anomalous zones of gold and copper enrichment. The Dor claims were later acquired by Eureka Resources Inc., who undertook a program of soil sampling, geological mapping, rock chip sampling and VLF-EM surveying. By 1983, a large east-trending gold soil anomaly had been outlined and numerous zones of gold enrichment were established in nearby hornfelsic rock. A significant east-trending electromagnetic anomaly that was largely coincident with the geochemical anomaly was also delineated.

In 1984, the Dor claims were optioned to Noranda, who confirmed the EM anomaly and tested it with two short drillholes. The drillholes intersected a 5.6- to 11.0-metre wide zone hosting massive veins and disseminations of pyrrhotite with minor pyrite and trace chalcopyrite. Later in 1984 and in 1985, Eureka Resources completed further programs of trenching and geochemical sampling. In 1987 and 1988, Kore Mining Ltd., on the behalf of Eureka Resources, completed programs of rock and soil sampling, trenching and geological mapping on the Dor 1-2 claims.

In 1989, the Dor property was optioned to Gibraltar Mines Ltd., who completed six diamond drill holes, totalling 1213.7 metres. In 1991, a single diamond drill hole, totalling 213.7 metres, was completed. In 2010, the area was examined as the Dorfly property.

In 2009, a program of geochemical (rock and heavy mineral) sampling was completed. During 2012 through 2017, Barker Minerals Ltd. completed programs of rock and soil sampling on the area as the Doreen property.
